Doonside Hawks Premier League to be apart of 2015 FFA Cup

26/2/2015

Football NSW (FNSW) has conducted the draw for the 2015 Westfield FFA Cup Preliminary Rounds at the ‘Home of Football’, Valentine Sports Park on Thursday 12/02/15.

In a first for Football NSW, as many as 58 Association clubs from across NSW have registered and will compete as part of the overall 104 clubs for the right to win a place in the Westfield FFA Cup finals proceedings.

Football NSW Head of Competitions Manager Troy McColl was thrilled with the news that the quota of registered teams grew from the 2014 tournament outlining the seriousness behind this prestigious event.

“It’s safe to say that the Westfield FFA Cup kicked off with a bang last year.

“The statistics don’t lie and to have seen a rise in teams has only furthered the statements heard that this year, the Westfield FFA Cup will be bigger and better.

“It was great to have done the official draw live on our official YouTube page as the interest for this Cup has really taken off.”

The Westfield FFA Cup provides Football NSW National Premier Leagues (NPL) and Club  teams the opportunity to progress to the Round of 32 and the chance to play off against Preliminary Round club-based winners from fellow states, as well as Hyundai A-League Clubs.

Football  NSW has been allocated five slots into the Westfield FFA Cup 2015 Final Rounds.

Accordingly, the five winning clubs from Round 7 of the Preliminary Rounds will enter this stage of the tournament.

2014  was the inaugural season for the Westfield FFA Cup and proved to be a huge hit with the Australian football fraternity.

The opening year saw the likes of Manly United, Sydney Olympic, Blacktown City, Hakoah Sydney City East, Parramatta FC, South Coast Wolves and Sydney United 58  FC take part in the round of 32 of the Westfield FFA Cup.
